We had a very good first day and got a lot of work done.

Our Script follows: We will begin shooting tomorrow!

The Case of the Missing Tortoise

1. Opening Scene

The Roots Circus

Receivers Makayla and Iruka are on stage with Hina.

(Hina is both a telepathic and telekinetic creature and the Receivers are the only ones that can "hear" Hina)

They are demonstrating at the Circus how Hina can communicate to them without speaking.

Makayla: "Now, you will see, how Hina can speak telepathically. Watch as I ask her a question!

"Hina, our magnificent Tortoise, how are you doing today?"

looks toward turtle and she puts her hands up to her head to receive.

Iruka: also puts her hands up to receive.

momentairly, Iruka wiggles her hands slightly and speaks in Japanese

"japanese answer to question"

Makayla: "Sometimes Hina answers in Japanese"

Iruka: "She said: I am doing quite well, thank you!"

Makayla: "Now, she will move objects on a table, with HER MIND!"

(shots of stuff moving)

sounds of clapping and cheering

fade to black

2. Hina is in her cage, sleeping peacefully after a full night of entertaining at the circus.

Night scene: three masked men (Elijah, Keane, Michael) enter the cage and quietly pick up Hina and walk away. One of them says: "Darn!" and walks back to get turtle food.

fade to black.

3. Next morning at Hina's cage

Makayla and Iruka come to feed Hina and discover she is missing

Makayla: "Hina! Hina? Where are you girl?" (searching)

Iruka: "Come on out, no need to hide"

after a few moments, the girls look to each other and yell:

"Hina is Gone!"

fade to white

4. Circus Team is assembled to discuss the missing star animal

Michael: "How do you know she is really missing?"

Makayla: "Well....because she is GONE! DUH"

Keane: "Did you check the surrounding area? Perhaps she is on a walkabout.

Iruka: "Yes, we did that. I'm afraid Hina has been STOLEN!"

Elijah: "Why would anyone steal our star attraction? What possible value could a telepathic, telekinetic reptile have?"

Taona: "What we have here folks (zoom to face) is a MYSTERY"

everyone nods and looks to each other, then back to Taona

Taona "I just read a book about detectives. We have to follow procedures to solve this crime!"

Makayla: "What do you mean Taona, what procedures?"

Taona: "Master detectives always use the three Ls: LOOK, LISTEN and LOGIC"

Michael "Hmmm, Look for Hina. Well, she looks like a dinosaur"

Keane: "Listen for Hina. What sounds do turtles make?"

Elijah: "No way turtles are logical! What is going on?"

Taona: "We look, we listen, and we use logic to figure out a plan."

(Makayla appears to move her hands to her head)

Makayla: "Shhhh, I receiving a message!"

(she concentrates)

"Hina says she is blindfolded and cannot see....

everyone nods their heads

"And, she says she smells papayas"

Iruka: "Papayas! Yes, I got that too."

Elijah: "Papayas on Maui! Well, that narrows it down to about half the island... (sarcastically)

Taona: "OK, lets go! We have a Turtle to find!"

fade to black

4. Team Recovery is marching through the woods Music: "Show Me What I'm Looking For" Playlist DaddyRock2009a

various of shots of everyone looking under things for Hina

5. Back at Headquarters for a break

Taona: "Looks guys, I know this is hard, but detective work always is"

Makayla: "We need to use our heads....(shaking head)

Iruka: "I posted on Craigslist. Maybe we got a response or an email."

(show Craigslist posting)

Iruka: "Have we checked our email lately? Remember Hina was always good at staying in touch with her relatives back in the Sahara."

Makayla: "Let me check my iPod......(checking her email)

Keane: "I don't believe it (slapping his forehead) Turtles do email?"

Michael: "Something is just not right with that!"

Makayla: "Wow! Here is an email! From Hina!"

Taona: "Shh guys! What does it say Makayla?"

(Makayla shaking her head slightly as she reads the email to herself)

Makayla: "Hina says she is still blindfolded, and now she is eating bamboo leaves"

Taona: "That's a clue guys! First papaya, and now bamboo!"

Elijah: "Well that narrows it down to three fourths of the island!"

Taona: "Not if you consider that the papayas must be in the vicinity of bamboo!"

(everyone nods yes)

Taona: "Lets go find that turtle!"

fade to white

6. Twin Falls (music: Good Times KMix)

Team Recovery is looking through the valley for the lost Hina

Iruka: "I'm getting a bad feeling....."

Makayla: "Iruka, lets focus (both girls put their hands up to their heads and slowly spin around to get the signal)

Iruka: "Music...."

Makayla: "Yes, Music. She hears music now!"

Taona: "Excellent! Now we have narrowed it down. Papaya smells in a bamboo forest where music is playing!"

(Michael, Elijah and Keane begin to look nervously at each other, as if they are about to be discovered for their evil plot)

Michael: "We....we gotta go..."

Keane: "Yeah, go!"

Elijah: "Go, we gotta...."

Suddenly the sounds of music are heard far up in the forest..... (music: My Way A Mi Manura Happy Feet)

everyone runs up to the sounds of the music to discover Hina, blindfolded in a box.

everyone is happy, dancing around

fade to white

7. Back at Headquarters

Team Recovery (minus the bad guys who are already back) comes around the corner holding Hina in the box to discover the bad guys dancing to Points of Authority Linkin Park

bad guys dancing all crazy kine

Makayla: "What are you guys doing?"

(they ignore her and keep dancing)

Taona: "Hey, quiet down!"

Iruka: "We found Hina!"

(music immediately stops)

(all three bad guys freeze and look at Iruka)

Michael: "What? What did you find?"

Taona: "We found Hina. You know, it sounded a lot like turtle kidnapping music you were listening to."

(everyone walks in and sits down, petting Hina's shell)

Makayla: "Hina, tell us, who kidnapped you?"

Iruka: "Japanese or English, either way will work Hina"

(they both listen, as Hina says in Japanese "Give me the pen")

Iruka: (japanese:........., then translates "Give me the pen")

Keane: "Uh oh, that turtle is going all telekinetic on us boys..." (looking around at the other bad guys)

Michael: "Just when I thought it was all going to work...."

Taona turns toward Michael and says:

"What was going to work? You guys are sure acting suspiciously."

Hina begins writing with her pen (magnets are working here to spell out E, M, K)

Makayla: "E, M, K"

Iruka: "Are those initials?"

Taona: "Yes, they are! (standing and looking at the bad guys) Elijah, Michael, Keane!"

(the bad guys are retreat to the couch, as Taona, Makayla and Iruka approach them menacingly)

Makayla: "Why would you do such a thing?"

Michael: "For world domination! Ha! Ha!"

Elijah: "Actually, we were going to use Hina to read everyone's mind and get their passwords to their computers...."

Keane: "Yes! Then we would control the markets of the world for Comic Books...."

Elijah: "and Broccoli...."

Michael: "...and CORNDOGS!"

Taona: "that is just so lame!"

fade to black....

remain in black and que music: I got the Power!

fade from back

8. Epilogue (music continues to play)

Makayla and Iruka are holding Hina and pointing her at the bad guys...

suddenly their hands pin together, as Hina controls them

Taona: "You guys are UNDER ARREST!"

Suddenly the bad guys are invisibly marched in single file to jail........

fade to credits.....
